Felipe Massa won the 2008 French Grand Prix - Kimi 2nd


Brazillian Feilepe Massa won the third race of the season as he won the 2008 French Grand Prix, he also took over the lead of the F1 world championship for the first time. Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen who came home second at the Circuit de Nevers.

Lewis Hamilton, a drive-through penalty early on - after starting from 13th on the grid - wrecked his bid for points, with the 23-year-old finishing 10th, and he now trails Massa by 10 points. The Brazilian trailed team mate Kimi Raikkonen for the first 38 of the 70 laps.

Jarno Trulli of Toyota finished 3rd and McLarens Heikki Kovalainen finished 4th followed by Robert Kubica in BMW and Mark Webber of Renault got 5th and 6th place. Renault's Nelsinho Piquet and Fernando Alonso finished 7th and 8th respectively.

Kimi Raikkonen in his Red Ferrari grabs pole position for Sunday's race in 2008 De France Grand Prix, on Staurday, 21st June, 2008. This was 200th pole position for Ferrari as both Kimi and Massa dominated qualifying for the French Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton was third despite admitting to making mistakes, will start 13th when his ten-place grid penalty from Montreal is taken into account.

Fernando Alonso took 4th place in Renault and Toyota’s Jarno Trulli got 5th place, Heikki Kovalainen was sixth fastest with 1m 16.944s in the second McLaren. Force India drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil got 18th and 19th place respectively.

Finally some good results for Renault and 2 times world champion Fernando Alonso in 2008 Frmula 1 championship, as Fernando Alonso got their Magny-Cours weekend off to an excellent start as he topped second practice in 2008 French Grand Prix on Friday, 20th June, 2008.

Ferrai is not far behind as Felippe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, were 2nd and 3rd fastest in free practice. McLaren's Lewis Hamilton was 4th fastest followed by Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel, Rober Kubica in BMW 5th and 6th fastest respectively.

BMW's Robert Kubica registered his maiden win in Formula 1, by winning the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix, at Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Sunday, 8th June, 2008. Kubica take the drivers' championship lead as his BMW team mate Nick Heidfeld finished 2nd, with David Coulthard third for Red Bull.

Lewis Hamilton crashed into the back of Kimi Raikkonen in pit lane, whose Ferrari was stationary at the pit exit awaiting a green light during a safety-car period.

Timo Glock in Toyota finished 4th followed by Felippe Massa in Ferrari, Toyota's Jarno Trulli and Ruben Barrichello in Honda. Sabastian Vettel grab the final points of the race by finishing 8th.

Both Force India F1 Drivers retired early in the race.

Lewis Hamilton in McLaren grab the pole position in 2008 Canadian Grand Prix, despite a strong challenge from BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica, finished 2nd for Race Day on Sunday, 8th June, 2008. Hamilton, the current world championship leader, grabbed eighth pole position of his career with a time of one minute 17.886 seconds.

Ferrari's world champion Kimi Raikkonen, three points behind Hamilton in this year's title race, took third place in the grid with 1:18.735 while Fernando Alonso of Renault will start the race alongside the Finn in fourth after a lap of 1:18.746.

Williams' Nico Rosberg claimed fifth spot in 1:18.844 with Ferrari's Felipe Massa sixth, the other McLaren of Heikki Kovalainen seventh and BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld eighth.

Giancarlo Fisichella, his Force India team-mate Adrian Sutil and Toro Rosso's Sebastien Bourdais were the other three eliminated after Q1.

Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen in red Ferrari dominated the times in Friday’s first practice session for the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix. Massa just acing team mate Raikkonen in the dying moments.

The Brazilian stamped in a lap of 1m 17.948s to beat Raikkonen’s 1m 18.292s, then improved again to 1m 17.533s.
